OUR STORY
OUR STORY
Japan once changed the world through art.
In the 19th century, Japanese ukiyo-e traveled overseas.
The works of Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige
traveled to distant Europe,
making a great impression on artists like Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh.
What captivated them
was Japan's "negative space."
Living in harmony with nature.
Appreciating the seasons.
Accepting even light, wind, and rain as beauty.
This aesthetic, which was commonplace for Japanese people,
became the catalyst for the birth of a new art form called Impressionism.
Japanese culture
once moved the art world.
However, at the same time,
Japan still retains
many beautiful cultures unknown to the world.
Pottery passed down for hundreds of years.
Crafts nurtured in each region.
Scents born from the local nature.
Techniques preserved by artisans.
Many of these
have not yet adequately reached the world.
REBLANC believes that:
Culture is not just something to be preserved,
but something that is used in daily life
and passed down to the future.
That is why we
do not simply deliver Japanese culture as is,
but translate it into modern life.
Giving a new role
to a single piece of pottery.
Conveying the local landscape
through scent.
And,
delivering even the culture and stories behind them
to the world.
What we aim for
is not to sell handicrafts.
It is a future where Japanese culture
naturally thrives
in the daily lives of people around the world.
Just as Japanese aesthetics once
brought a new perspective to world art.
REBLANC also
aims to connect cultures
and create new dialogues.
